Help ID this thing in my kitchen that needs to be removed

I have a forward facing kitchen that look into the living room. There's this thing, I have no idea what it's called, it's like a counter tops but sits above my kitchen sink. It's about 3 ft long and 1 1/2 feet deep.

I want it either removed or pushed back a few inches so when visitors are in the living room they brush up against it. Sorry I got no pictures to show.

Typically those are glued down---sometimes attached to a sub backer that is screwed---

Cut any caulking and pry it up a bit--see what is holding it in---

I was thinking it may be held down with caulk. Maybe screws too cuz they seem pretty sturdy to me. thanks

Commonly called a Breakfast bar. They are made to stick out, so people have an area over their laps, while sitting at it.

It all depends on the material that it is made of. If stone, it is held in place with Silicone based Caulk. If it is Formica, could be Carpenter's Nail glue.

i think it's made of wood then the original owner put subway tiles on top. I know that looks hideous Im going to try to saw both sides that are touching the walls first then work the bottom.
