handyman tip: how to save a tube of caulk quick and easy

very simple idea I just figured out.. I cut open a tube of caulk.. used about 1/3 of it.. then was stuck with either having to use up the whole tube somewhere or figure out a way too save it for later..

came up with this idea..
-> grab a piece of plastic bag or plastic.. ( I used a paint brush packaging wrapper).. wrap it around the cut tip of the caulking tube, then screw on a red wire nut.. it fits perfect... gave it a good tight fit..

That works....

I use large wire nuts.

Some tubes come with a cap....I save the cap from empty tubes and use them on fresh tubes.

I use the bag trick, but I secure it with the rubber band used to neuter young male livestock.

Seals very tight.

Just seal up the opening of the tube with some duct tape. No need for a bag.

Wire nuts are pretty common. I just use painters tape.

Eh, we've always just made sure to cut the opening to the size that a screw or nail will fit snug inside the opening. Pull it out and ready to go. For longer storages, we do that then we wrap the end with some plastic, and tape it shut (assuming we have no caps) with electrical tape.

You need to cut the hole for the use not for what your going to stick in it for storage.
