Grout/Silicone/Acrylic caulk?

I need to either caulk or grout the area of the backsplash that meets the kitchen countertop. As you can see from the photos some of the grout has crumbled or broken off from the bottom of the backsplash. This is right in the area of the faucet so I am sure moisture is part of the problem. Also need to fix the area around that light switch.
I’m guessing I shouldn’t remove the existing grout and re-grout but perhaps use silicone or acrylic caulk. As you can see in one of the photos the grout has held up since it is not in an area that is subject to moisture. Need recommendations, thank you.

Normal procedure is to caulk changes in plane. If you do switch to caulk, it might look a little funny if part of the joint is caulk and part grout.

It doesn't look like it'd take that much to just chip out the old grout along the counter and replace with caulk.

Chip out the old grout along the countertop and grout. Use a sanded caulk from a tile shop that matches your grout color. Like the others stated, any change in plane direction should be caulked. So, countertop seam and inside corners.

With the matching caulk that should not be an issue. The problem is most people didn't save the grout bag, or the name of the grout and grout color, so they don't know what matching caulk to buy. One option is to go to Home Depot and buy several tubes of caulk and use the one that matches closest, and return the others. Of course they can only be returned if the tip isn't cut, so you'll have to match color based on the color block on the tube, or just eat the cost. Make sure to get sanded caulk so the texture as well as color matches.
