Grout question

The grout in my bathroom is old and a stained. I don't have the money to invest in new tile (which oddly enough looks great...just the grout doesn't) so I was wondering what product(s) people would recommend to clean it up?

I've seen some grout pens.....do these work? How long will that last before the stained color comes back?

I've seen at Home Depot a grout cleaning kit that comes with a colored sealer....how well do those work?

Thanks

Got a picture?
Why not remove the old grout install new and reseal?
An ossilating tool will make quick work of it.

For a relative few dollars, I think it's worth trying a grout cleaner product before going to the more complicated and time consuming step of removing and replacing the grout..

There are also grout coloring products available.

I have used the HD grout sealer/tint pen with the felt tip to tint some new grout (darker). Don't remember how long the fluid lasted, but the felt was worn away with 8 or 10 feet of grout.

Might be some type of cleaner out there that would freshen the grout, but I was not impressed by the pen.

The grout colorants are probably best (but not easier) applied with a narrow brush (artist's brush).

This one on Home Depot, for example, is an 8-oz bottle with good reviews:

Check the photos posted in the reviews.

Just a thought - A lot of people seem to prefer changing their grout's color from dark to light. Hmmn. I don't quite get that. For bathroom tiles where I can only mop (not scrub with a floor brush + detergent and rinse with flowing water going down the floor drain, because floor drains are not common here in the US), the lighter-colored grout would turn dirty darkish over the years.
