Grout Problems ?

Had a tiled shower installed a few months ago. Had issues with the quality of work from the beginning. The shower looks good as long as you don't look close up -- the tiles are a bit uneven. However, I was assured that was only cosmetic and everything else was done correctly. 2 months later and the grout around the shower floor is washing away! AND there seems to be some cracks and missing spots of grout on the bench and walls. I am SO UPSET. What is the issue here and what can be done? The grout is sanded and the description says "pre-mixed" on the tub that they left behind. My contractor is coming back next week to look at it. Thoughts and suggestions appreciated!!

Never use pre-mixed grout.
Cracks in the grout usually is caused by movement due to poor base construction. Washed out and missing may just be a poor application
How large are the grout joints that he used a sanded grout?
Can you post photos?

Hi rb43,

Sorry you're having this problem. Please let us know exactly what grout was used and if you know what other materials were used. Give a description of the method of installation such as the type of backer board and which specific adhesive was used. Do you have any in-progress pics? Was the shower waterproofed before the tiles were installed? Any and all info you can think of.

Not sure if you can post pics yet, maybe links to materials though.

Jaz
