diy frameless sliding glass shower doors

Hi all

my bathroom remodel is just about done and needless to say have gone over budget. the contractor is finishing up the shower tile and some other misc stuff. time for theglass shower guys to come out.

I'm interested in getting the cr laurence serenity sliding glass shower door system. local shops are quoting me $1800 including install. do you think this is diy-able if I get the glass cut and holes cut by a glass shop and just install on my own? the crl serenity system is pretty straight forwaed. just mount the header bar between the walls and then hang glass wiwith supplied hardware.

what do u guys think?

No clue what CR Laurence even is.
No location in your profile so you could be any place on the planet.
How many quotes did you get for these doors?
Been to any real glass shops to get prices?

i did a frameless slider in my condo shower (i don't live there any more)

i used a $300 framed door from HD. i made 2 aluminum blocks, that i lag screwed to the wall. set the top rail on these blocks. then hung the doors and put a retainer block on the granite curb top.

its was pretty darned nice !

i had quotes for well over $2000. and that was about 7 years ago.

Joe,

CRL is the premier source for glass-related "stuff" in the country. If you are working with glass and you need a component - commercial, residential, industrial - they almost certainly have it.

I would suspect that there isn't a glass manufacturer, glass shop, window company, etc. that hasn't used CRL at some point.

Heck, I'm on a first-name basis with a couple of their customer service reps.

Joshik,

How good are your DIY skills?
