caulking new shower door ?

i just put in a new shower door for a friend, a basic slidder.
the bottom rail goes wall to wall, i caulked the ends to the wall.
the side rails then set down on top of the bottom rail. the instructions didn't say to caulk this joint. i am wondering if i should caulk them ?
sorry, no pics

A little clear silicon won't hurt, and might stop a leak before it happens.

I always err on the side of safety.

The joint appears to be designed to be caulk free, it's a call only you and the homeowner can make.

yeah, now that i think about it. but in that vid, he didn't caulk the ends of the bottom rail. and if not for the outside caulk, that would leak for sure.

btw. i know about price talk. but what would a fair price to charge just for removing the old and installing that door ?

That depends on what kind of a friend ya'll are, And if they offered to pay, or can they help you sometime later.

It's a quid pro quo world.

You get what you give , tripled sometimes.

ED. i'm not talking about a freind. i am asking what to charge a customer. but searching around i found that $200 is about right. and some places would be over $400

My misunderstanding.

Post 1, states that you did this for a friend.

I extrapolated that you and friend were now talking " What do I owe you for the help, bud?"

My mistake.

But yeah a couple hundred should cover the labor, and maybe most of the materials, caulk, sealers, cleaners, paper towels.

You do leave a clean work area you know.

Re: caulking new shower door ?

she is a long time freind. her house is kind of high end. i think she is fixing things to make it for sale. i did a lot more than just the door, the door was the easy part.
she is looking at new windows, $25k+ worth.

anyway. she did not expect me to do it for free. though, like you said, everybody whats stuff for, close to, free. for free, i will work on my own stuff. and god knows, i have plenty of that.

i leave it mostly clean = she says "i'l get it"
