Can a wallmount vanity hold the weight of child sitting on it?

The free standing vanity we wanted is out of stock, the next one we like is a wall mount. When we get the kids ready for school in the morning, we like to sit them on the vanity to do their hairs and what not.

Was wondering if it'll have any issue holding the weight of a child sitting on the front edge? I can see how it supports the weight that's evenly distributed but having a child towards the front will actually be pulling the back forward.

Depends how it is made and how you attach it to the wall.

My wife had me looking at some at IKEA last week. I wouldn’t put a child on one of those.

We look @ the Ikea ones last week too, they are built for doll houses.

Biggest complain with wall hung is that they're only 18-19" depth and the included top integral sink is so shallow.

I think that you're asking for trouble sitting a child on a vanity, free standing or not. It's too dangerous.

Would you trust it with the health and safety of a child without absolute assurance? I'm guessing the mounting bracket is designed and intended to hold the weight of the sink only. There might even be something in the small print.

Put a bar stool in the room next to the vanity, that way you have a real seat for the child, and something for you too if you need a leaning prop to get your pants on after your shower.

Or build your own with a solid base on the floor. It's not hard to adapt a regular bedroom vanity to have a sink on top.

I don't let kids sit on our kitchen counters.

Whenever possible, I like to add support to a floating vanity.

I just did a 60 inch floating that was between to side walls. I mounted two ledger boards to the side walls. You have to get on your hands and knees to see the boards. Better safe than sorry.
