I am using a 2" thick end grain walnut countertop on my kitchen island. There is a small undermount sink there that will be used exclusively for food prep (washing fruits & veggies, etc.) so it won't be seeing nearly as much water as a standard dish sink.
I plan to use a food-safe oil on the main part of the countertop. I specifically picked the walnut for its resistance to water (and because I have walnut floors), but I am thinking I might like to treat the edge around the sink with something a bit more durable than oil as an extra measure. I'm thinking of just masking off this edge with painter's tape and using a syringe or two of Gorilla epoxy, which if I recall correctly is thick enough that it won't run when applied to a vertical surface. Anyone have a better suggestion?
