Bathtub with center drain?

I'm currently working on remodeling my bathroom which has been pretty much untouched since the 70s when it was built. It has a standard rectangular walk in(?) shower with the drain in the center. I'd like to put a tub in there but when I shop around, all I find are tubs with drains on the edge. Also, its a single story house with a concrete foundation. I don't have the exact dimensions but, the shower is roughly ~5-6' long and ~3-4' wide.

If standard tubs with a center drain in this size don't exist, what are some of the other options if I want to go the tub route?

Re: Bathtub with center drain?

Is there any specific site you're looking at? Everything I've clicked were for tubs that were either "freestanding", or had left, right or "back center" drains.

I wasn't specific in the design type I was looking for but, I was looking for something basic like the picture below. The drain I currently have is literally in the center of the shower. The back center drains are too close to the wall

The drains not going to line up, it will need some minor replumbing.

Re: Bathtub with center drain?

Dumb question but do tubs typically have enough clearance underneath to run drain piping? I never installed a tub before but the couple of videos I saw had the drain pipe coming straight down so I always assumed that's how it had to be. I guess If I have enough space to actually run some pvc, ultimately, it shouldn't matter where my drain is right?

Re: Bathtub with center drain?

Bathtubs typically sit right on the floor. It is needed to support the weight of the tub when full of water. The only space under the tub is under the floor and above the ceiling below.

Don't know the level of your DIY expertize, and I think you said you were on a slab, but cutting the concrete and replumbing seems tough, but is not that difficult.

You will have a concrete demo saw rental... or maybe a local concrete guy will cut it out in an hour for you.
