Bathroom Faucet Remodeling

We just bought a townhome and obvious to modification the faucet in the bathroom. While I go to turn off the hot and cold water underneath the sink the hot water starts leaking from behindhand the knob.
I strained constriction up that nut that is behind the knob but was ineffective at stopping the leaking. Is it time to change that valve?

It looks like a link to the faucet didn't work, can you just post a picture, most times they can be repaired.

Re: Bathroom Faucet Remodeling

The stop valve may not be damaged. The washer inside can be replaced. You will need to turn off the water to the house to isolate it, removing the collar nut and unscrewing it to expose the washer. The only other thing that usually leaks is the packing under the collar nut. It is also replaceable.

A picture of your offending valve would help.

In a pinch, try turning the valve on and off multiple times. (Fully open, Fully close) Sometimes that will get the valve to stop leaking.
