Adhesive for small piece of tile?

I have 2 small pieces of tile to (5" x 6") to install on the left and right side of the outside of the shower curb
What kind of adhesive can I use if I don't want to mix thinset for such small pieces?

Do you have any left over thinset? Shouldn't be hard to mix a tiny batch. Mastic is moisture sensitive and will not fare well.

Hi Frech Guy,

In the home stretch I see. Thinset would be best if what you may have isn't too old or wasn't opened and you kept it in the garage or on the basement floor. In a pinch regular caulk will work just fine for this purpose. How about the grout? Do you have any caulk to match the wall grout used in the shower? Could use that too.

Jaz

Merry Christmas Everyone

Re: Adhesive for small piece of tile?

I have some thinset (Versabond) from this summer. Bag was opened, and wrapped into a plastic bag, and store into the garage
I do have some grout left as well, and also the acrylic caulk that matches the grout color
I was thinking to use some construction adhesive for the tiles, but if mixing a small qty of thinset is much better, i guess I can do that...

Maybe you should re read my suggestion? But it might still be ok. The caulk may be ok if manufactured this year.

Re: Adhesive for small piece of tile?

There's no way to know for sure. It has a shelf life of 12 months from the day it was made, not bought, IF it is unopened and stored in a conditioned space. Some would say 2 weeks after opening and stored in a garage is questionable.

12-24 months is an industry norm. I didn't check to see what Custom has to say, but once opened and stored in your garage I wouldn't use it on your job. But for those two pieces.....who cares.
