Acrylic tub flange - uneven gap

I am installing an acrylic tub in a bathroom remodel. The tub will need a shim on one end to meet the opening. No big deal there. But I have another issue.

The gap over there is not even. It starts at about 7/16" and at the top is 5/8". So the main shim will have to be cut from 7/16 plywood. This is the flange on the drain side, attached to the tub skirt.

But what can I do about the gap at the top? I am afraid that the tub will crack if I try to flex it in that far. I was considering using a heat gun on a low setting to soften and move that flange a little more in line. Would this work or will it damage the acrylic?

Thanks in advance.

Is the wall out of whack or is it the tub?

Typically--if the wall studs are out of line--adding (sistering) extra studs along side the existing ones will take care of that problem--

Turned out to be a non issue. When I put the shim in the entire flange went in line.

But apparently I didn't level the tub right because the surriund isn't going on right. Looks like I'm redoing it again.
