So what are my options at this point? Should I call the water company first? Also how urgent of a situation is this?
Yes, talk to them. They are probably not liable for extreme pressure though. But you can quiz them on the best way they would like to see it resolved. By this I mean installing a PRV at the house side of the meter, or inside your house near your shut off.
You are under UPC code and the maximum delivery pressure allowed is 80 psi.
Again, that does not apply to water dept. delivery- just the house side.
For what it's worth- 60 psi is considered normal.
You can see what extreme pressure can do to a main line. Consider what it's doing in a toilet tank fill valve or faucet....

Re: Worried about crazy water pressure in hose

Look where the water enters the house, there should be a pressure reducer valve. They are adjustable although it's likely it's gone bad. My son bought a house that had been replumbed a year before he bought it. He had it about a year when a pipe under the house blew apart. That is when we found there was no PVR installed so I installed one, 9 yrs later still no pressure issues.
