Running a large quartz radiant space heater in the garage probably costs more money. This only happens here once a year for a few days
.

or until you open garage doors during freezing weather

garages & water pipes don't play well together

never have - never will (even in sweet Caroline)

good news is your unit can protect itself on bypass

Peace

Re: Winter time - how to prevent frozen pipes to tankless water heater

When I bought my first house 35 years ago, no basement, the prior owner put the water softener in the garage. Not a good idea in PA.
After it froze, I built a little enclosure with ridged insulation, and put a 100w light inside the enclosure. Not the best solution, but it worked during the PA winters.
