Why are my toilets gurgling and water level low?

Hi! When using the shower my toilet has gurgled a few times in the last couple weeks. Also the water level seems to be low in the toilets after flushing and refilling. I checked the septic tank and it doesn t seem to be full and when I have someone flush or run water it comes right into the tank. All sinks and toilets drain good and don t seem clogged. What could be my problem? Also how do you know when septic tank needs to be pumped? Mine was pumped 18 months ago.

Sounds like a possible clogged vent pipe.

Something is not vented properly. Was the house remodeled or new?

Sounds like venting. Depending on your location, plugged with ice or snow? Critters? Bird?

Not an expert but I think the main line before the distribution box may need to be snaked.
When there is a septic tank involved, the things that may interfere with proper operation are tree roots that may have pushed the main line off and away from the distribution box. Another reason is that the so called "Flushable Wipes" that people use do not dissolve like tissue paper does, and this can cause problems if these flushable wipes spill over from the septic tank and enter the distribution box. Do a search on septic tanks and flushable wipes and you will see that they are not recommended to be used on septic systems. A professional will need to examine this problem. I am facing a simular problem on a house I am considering buying.
Good luck with your investigation.

Ok so the vent stacks are all clear. Do all septic tanks have two lids ? I see one lid for the I let from the house. That pipe is clear coming into the tank. There hasn't been anymore bubbling of the toilet in the last few days .
