weird shower valve (pics)

This is a cheap china shower valve for a rainfall shower with handheld sprayer.
Wondering if I should go ahead and use it or replace with traditional style valve. Thanks!

Re: weird shower valve (pics)

You can mostly answer your question by answering the following questions.

1) will parts to repair it be available in 10 years?

2) will parts to repair it be available in 5 years?

3) are parts to repair it available now?

and how difficult is the process?

I agree with the first comment! You must answer those questions for yourself, but if you have the money i would suggest purchasing a new model. There are many options that you can find for under $30 that are world class! I would recommend the Delta R10000 shower valve. You can get it at any local hardware store as well as on Amazon for very cheap, and although it is incredibly cheap, Delta has been known for its reliability.

Re: weird shower valve (pics)

I was a the National Builders Show in Las Vegas. There were a lot of Chineese exhibitors with bath fixtures. On the last day of the show, a number of the Chineese manufactures just leave the fixtures behind. I walked by a booth with a number of white bath sinks laying on the ground. I picked one up. It felt like it was made of paper machet. They looked nice but I was amazed by the flimsy product.
