Water Utility Pump stopped working

I have a Flotec water pump (http://www.flotecpump.com/Residentia...FP0S1300X.aspx)
that was working wonderfully to pump some water out of a pool. While the pump was running, I lifted the pump in a horizontal position, about halfway out of the water. The pump shut off after about 0.5 seconds in the position. I thought that maybe the thermal switch shut it off or something like a "float" switch did, however there is no float switch. The pump won't start at all now. Seems strange that it would just turn off so quickly without any noise or fanfare and now be broken. Any ideas?

Have you checked the fuse or reset the breaker. Uplug it, then plug it back in. Also check and see if it didn't trip a gfci somewhere. just an idea.

Yes, plugged something else into the outlet and it worked. Is there a fuse in the pump?

According to your owners manual there is. Replace with same size fuse. Check page 3, under troubleshooting. They also have a toll free number to assist you.

Yea, I saw that and was confused because I cannot find a fuse in this pump.

Sorry matt it must be the other model. You are correct there is no fuse in that model, it would be listed in the blown up diagram.

Call the 1 800 number, if less than a year old, you may get a new one. Just a suggestion.

Another suggestion; Read up on the airlock procedures.

Can't believe it would go bad just moving it, unless it was running while totally out of the water or you moved it by just using the power cord itself and a wire came loose somewhere.

Sorry I couldn't be of more help to you. Hope you can get it working again without having to buy a new one.
