Water doesn't flow after sprayer used

My kitchen faucet does not flow sometimes after using the sprayer. Sometimes it's fine and other times I can turn the hot and cold on and nothing comes out but the sprayer still works. It can be only a few seconds hesitation but sometimes it lasts for a couple minutes. I live in south Florida and the water here is very hard, if that has anything to do with it.
It doesn't happen every time but it's been getting a little more frequent since it began about a year ago.
The faucet is about 5 years old and is just a basic two handle model. I'm hoping it's a simple replacement needed.
Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks.

You need to replace the needle valve to the sprayer. It's getting stuck.

Contact you faucet manufacture if it's a name brand.

I'm curious, if I replace the faucet with one with a built in sprayer, will that solve the problem? I was wanting to upgrade anyway.
Thanks for your help.

If you replace the entire faucet yes.
