Toilet Rough-In

I am replacing my toilet and when measuring from the wall to the center of the flange bolts it is exactly 13". There is about a a 1" gap from the top of the tank to the wall.

Any ideas as to why it is 13" and not 12"?

Is a standard 12" toilet going to work? And will it be 1" further away from the wall?
Thanks

Re: Toilet Rough-In

Won't be a problem. That is far better than having it 11" from the finished wall The one inch will keep the tank from hitting the wall.

If the toilet is ever replaced you may appreciate that extra distance.

...
either your home is older 14" rough-in & extra wall thickness was added to
or there is a structural issue that prevented allowing the toilet flange to be closer to wall... or that gap was for future wall thickness allowances.
I've seen some newer toilets that would not even allow for shoe mold at base so all & all you have a good problem compared to what it could be IMO

Peace
