Toilet rim holes not working

Hoping for a solution to an apparently unusual toilet problem. We just moved into an older home. The master bath has a newer looking 1.6g Toto unibody toilet.

The problem is similar to this one I found:
http://www.diychatroom.com/f7/toilet...9570?_k=rz7wjs

Although I don't see any build up I still tried cleaning the holes with a coat hanger and a Muriatic acid soak without success.

I was at a loss. The siphon jet works fine, the toilet flushes. But nothing out of the rim. Out of curiosity I plugged the siphon jet and the rim holes worked perfectly! Unrestricted, full force, they all worked perfectly.

Problem solved I thought for a second until I unplugged the siphon jet. Nothing through the rim again!

The fill mechanism has been replaced with a Korky but the flapper and down spout look original.

Unlike the other thread, this is a unibody so there are no holes to be blocked. What could the issue be?

Thanks in advance,
-Steve

Re: Toilet rim holes not working

Put a little food coloring in to the tank, enough to color the water.

Then flush and observe if any color comes out the rim holes.

Many toilets only have enough water coming from the rim to trickle. And is very hard to see, so color the water and test.

I had already done that test. Nothing comes out the rim unless the siphon is blocked. Then it comes out the rim perfectly.

Re: Toilet rim holes not working

Does the flapper have a fin or flap on the underside that partially obstructs the flow out of the tank down into the bowl?

Lift up the flapper and look down the hole below. Any foreign objects down inside?

Try adding a little water to the bowl before a flush. Do the rim holes work better or worse depending on the level of water in the bowl?

Thanks for the suggestions. I haven't checked the flapper yet. I did slowly fill the bowl until I heard water tricking over the trap. When I flushed there was no change. Still no water out of the rim holes.
