Thanks mj12. The toilet had a jumbo ring on it and when I took it off it was apparent that it was too short to make a proper seal. Would you stack two rings?

Yes.. 2 rings are fine. Make sure they are at house temp prior to using.

1st post shows what appears to be the left over plastic flange from the old wax
This might account for the 2.5" measurement- got to remove that piece.

Personally, I try not to stack waxes. I was taught years ago not to.
I'd rather use flange extensions. But to each his own....
