Stub-out length

Hi all,

The plumber left four or so inches of 1/2" capped copper pipe extending from the finished wall to supply the toilet and vanity hot/cold water. Question - I need cut the copper pipe and install the compression fit water valves, how much should I leave extending from the wall? Thanks

Re: Stub-out length

Will you be using chrome covers to dress it up?

Cut pipes as close to the wall as you need to accommodate your compression fit water supply shut-off valves. For sink; remember the drain p-trap. Just a suggestion and my own opinion, others may disagree.

Re: Stub-out length

Yes, I'll be installing chrome covers. I'm wondering if there is a standard length to leave stubbed-out taking in to account the cover - 1"? Maybe it will become apparent after I pick-up the valves and see how they attach to the copper pipe.
