Strange faucet stem and seat

I went to replace the washer on my shower faucet and this is what I found. Instead of a washer it is a rubber plug and appears like the seat is at the end under the plug. So should I replace the rubber stopper to stop the leak?

Re: Strange faucet stem and seat

Looks like the threaded part that held the washer in place has broken off.

Re: Strange faucet stem and seat

Welcome to the forum lily.

You can try fixing it. Easier and quicker to replace it imo.

Take the stem to a hardware, plumbing supply or big box store and match it up. Just a suggestion.
