Spoiled Drain?

Good day! I had a plumber come in to work on my shower drain and he told me the drain was "spoiled" ie had remnants of toilet flushings in it

Upstairs washroom with a shower, toilet, sink and washer. No other floors above this (other than attic). Part of an addition put on approx. 5 years ago so new plumbing was tied into old.

I'm 95% certain a new vent was installed but somewhere in the past the venting was called into question by other tradesmen and I can't recollect why.

A quick Google search didn't bring up anything and I can't quite figure out how it is possible and what a fix might be.

Re: Spoiled Drain?

What is the slope on the drain pipe and you need to confirm the venting. No reason it should fail to drain like that.

If it isn't vented, it will not drain properly so you need to confirm that. Did the plumber not verify this? It shouldn't be difficult.

Re: Spoiled Drain?

What was he doing with the shower Drain in other word what did you call him out for. spoils from sewage are not uncommon in a shower when you have a back up in the branch.

Experience is Knowing what to do next, Skill is knowing how to do it
