Smelly water

My hot water smells like sulfur (rotten eggs). Does anyone know how to fix this or what causes it? Ive tried running the hot water to try anf drain the water heater but doesn't seem to help. I live in a townhouse neighborhood in Houston texas if that helps

Cold water works fine, just the hot water smells

Turn the temp up on your water heater . I found by increasing the temp on my well supplied water heater from 120 to 130 killed the sulfurous bacteria .

Re: Smelly water

Most often changing the anode rod to a magnesium rod will take care of it.
May need an impact wrench to remove it.
