Shower knobs have metal pipe

Shower knob broken in the bathroom. So no problem right just buy new hardware and knobs and swap it out.

But mine has a metal pipe around it so I cannot change. Sorry don't know how to explain it.

Do you know what brand of faucet that is?

The silver tube usually unscrews---you may need to use a rubber strap wrench---

No idea what model was in the house when I bought it.

I was thinking the valve was holding it in but I can't reach the valve nut. The metal tubing around it keep me from fitting something that can reach the nut.

I'll try get a rubber strap wrench but it didn't budge so far.

Good luck--that tube is just decorative---a squirt of penetrating oil might help

Thanks guys the strap wrench did the trick. Now next question.

Changed the valve, changed the seat, but the valve stem stick so far out. Did I buy the wrong kit? I'm guessing I did.

Maybe. Did you take the old ones with you to match them up.

Yeah thats what I thought. Home Depot must love me.

Couldn't get the old one off earlier so I bought the whole kit not realize the stems were different lengths.
