Seeping Vent Pipe - Need/How to repair?

I've been working on my bathroom, and am replacing drywall where tile used to be. After pulling the drywall out, I saw the pipe pictured below. It looks like the vent pipe has been seeping. I suppose the pipe is horizontal because there used to be an in-wall medicine cabinet. I suppose it's possible the pipe itself isn't leaking, but instead water made its way down the pipe from the roof at some time (probably prior to having the roof re-done several years ago).

It seems more likely to me that water from rain or condensation sits in the pipe at that elbow and seeps out.

Options I've considered:

1. cut out all the pipe, replace it with ABS and a shielded rubber coupling to couple the galvanized to ABS, following the same route to the roof.

2. Cut out the elbow above the sink, cut holes straight up the wall into the attic, coupling ABS up the wall, over and up through the existing roof hole.

3. Clean (how?) and wrap the joint with repair tape - like this?

4. Leave it alone. It worked for the last 75 years...

I feel like #1 or #2 are the best options (I lean toward #1), but I really hope everyone tells me that #3 is fine, and will last another 75 years.

Thanks!

I'd replace all of the galvanized. I would cut the vent above the seeping elbow and replace the entire drain line to the stack. Old galvanized corrodes and the id closes up.

Option 1 is the only reasonable thing to do and should not be difficult to do. If you have access to the galvanized in the attic I would make the transition there. If you have access to the galvanized beneath the floor (crawl space) I would make the transition there.

Thanks - I just needed that little nudge to do the right thing.

I think I can replace it crawl-space to roof, so will do that.

I guess ABS shouldn't be out in the sun - best to leave that last piece galvanized? Or just ABS, but it can be cut and replaced in the attic every 20 years when it decays.

Use PVC, it will be here when they dig us up a couple thousand years from now.
