Sealing off shower drain???

I would like to remove a stand up shower in my full bathroom and make it a half bathroom. What can I use to seal off the shower drain so I can tile over it? Thanks

Re: Sealing off shower drain???

We don't know what you have for a shower drain...... probably 2" ABS..???

But your local big Box store will have multiple type plugs/caps that will glue on or presure fit on.........

Thanks for the reply. I havenít got to that part yet to know what type of pipe it is. Just was trying to gather as much knowledge as I can before I started the project. Is there a specific name for the plug for the shower drain?

Re: Sealing off shower drain???

Are you sure that you want to remove that shower? It certainly lowers resale value?

Iím not worried about resale value. Iím already up by about 100k. I have 2 full bathrooms upstairs. The downstairs bathroom is a full bathroom which is kind of weird because no one uses it to shower and Iíd rather make it into an elegant half bathroom for my guest.
