Sealant question for 10-15 PSI

Hello to all,

The pool has a 4-cartridge filtering system. The cartridges are about 32" inches tall and 6-7" diameter w 2-3" holes in centers . The [soft] plastic ends have a few 1/2" to 3/4" splits in them. The pleats are in great shape, but I was trying to determine if any of you guys know of a sealant/filler that I could use to plug/seal the splits? JB weld for water applications???

The water chemistry is about a 3-5ppm Chlorine and a pH of 7.4 - 7.8, and the cartridges are enclosed/submerged in a fiberglass housing. The max PSI would be 15 maybe at start-up as pump primes, but operating is anywhere from 2-8 psi.

thank you very much, tstex

Unsure what exactly you are looking at, haven't worked much with pool filtration/pump systems. Perhaps a few pictures so we can see what you're working with

akuhn,

Here's a stock pic of the cartridge that is like mine...it's actually 32" long and 6-7" diameter. The next pic is of my pool equipment pad...the pool housing is the larger light brown canister...thanks

Now I know absolutely nothing about this but;
You said

The [soft] plastic ends
I wonder if the ends could be PVC.
If so you could try PVC primer and glue.

Re: Sealant question for 10-15 PSI

Thanks Harold...I did not know anything about these matters until I owned one [sigh].

The ends are not like PVC, but more like the bottom of some sports shoes, where the plastic is clear and not 100% hard, but has movement to it...I hope this helps...I am thinking it's more like hardened silicone...thanks again
