Reinstalling inlet filter on a Bosch Aquastar tankless water heater

I have a Bosch Aquastar tankless water heater Model GWH 1600H

http://www.bosch-climate.us/files/20...sh_05.2007.pdf

I decided to clean the inlet water filter as advised in the manual. I got the filter out OK but can't seem to get the retaining clip to go back in place.

The manual mentions a "threaded" bushing but when I inspect the bushing I see no such threads.

What is the secret of getting that retaining clip back in place?

I am guessing the retainer clip is supposed to go on top of the bushing? Perhaps I am not getting the bushing fully into the housing?

It definitely goes on top of or outside the bushing. This service bulletin shows that.

For what ever reason I can't get the bushing pushed in far enough . It does not appear to be keyed in anyway.

Welcome to the forum spinnaker.

The link you posted for service bullentin doesn't match the picture in your manual. This link to the service bullentin matches picture in your manual;

However, I agree with you, looking at the diagram, it looks pretty straight forward. I really don't know of any tricks (perhaps you are not lining in up correctly), looks like the retainer clip goes right on top like you said. If you still can't get it figured out give bosch a call in the morning first thing and ask them. Don't void your warantee by forcing anything.

Perhaps someone here has worked around one of these and knows. Please standby. Thank you.
