Question about Bathroom Demo

Good Evening folks,

I am about 80% done with my bathroom demo. currently working on one last wall which is cement board (wish me luck) and i also have an old cast iron tub that has a porcelain outer layer it appears.

so my two big questions:

-how do i detach the drain and the overflow from the tub? i looked into the drain it looks to just be copper doing a 90. should i just try to cut around it or do i go in basement and cut the copper?

- best way to smash the tub? from what i see on youtube my trusty sledge is the way to go

thanks for input

Re: Question about Bathroom Demo

First, undo the overflow from within the tub. It is a straight pipe down to the drain which forms a tee. Undo the drain from within the tub with a drain removal tool or a pair of pliers. At that point the tub will be free from the plumbing. If you decide to demo the tub, be sure to wear safety goggles and hefty gloves with long sleeve shirt. Those shards are like little knives and will cut you.
