Price Pfister Faucet Leaking

My kitchen faucet is leaking around the valve. See attached pic. I can't figure out how to remove the lever to replace the cartridge. The online maintenance guide is pretty much useless. Guidance would be appreciated. Thanks.

Re: Price Pfister Faucet Leaking

Look for a little hole that contains a set screw. Sometimes they are around back out of sight or in the bend of the handle. You will need an allen head screwdriver to loosen it.

On the top of the handle, is there a cap that pops off?

No set screw. I tried pulling the cap off but it doesn't appear as though it is a cap. Don't want to break it.

Right. Dont break it. Theres gotta be a way.

You can go to their website or call them directly and ask. Or wait and someone on this forum will probably know.

In the meantime you can use their website pictures to id your model number so you can get the right parts. Just a suggestion.

It appears to be a discontinued item. There are some that look similar. I looked at the maintenance guides and they are not very helpful.

Here's a link to one of their maintenance guides. It appears as though the handle threads off counter clockwise but I don't want to turn it too hard if that's incorrect.

Re: Price Pfister Faucet Leaking

Here's an update.

I contacted Price-Pfister (or whatever the company is now). They sent me two replacement cartridges without directions. I finally figured out that the caps on top of the handles are removable. It took some doing but they came off. When I removed the handles, I had to use a wrench to remove the brass retaining ring. The cartridges DO NOT come out easily. In fact, you must pretty much destroy them to remove them.

The directions were terrible from PP. I generally pay attention to how things are put together when I take them apart. The problem is removing the old cartridges intact is impossible so there was no way of making a comparison. The cartridge came out in about 20 pieces. I did the best I could figure. When I got it all back together it still leaked.

I finally just threw in the towel and bought a new faucet, a Kohler (I would have preferred a Moen but the wifey liked one particular Kohler better than the Moen equivalent).

Did some research and it looks like PricePfister is a producer of pretty crappy products these days. Stay away.
