Pressure in Holding Tank

The pressure in my holding tank which is in the cottage is always 10psi lower than what it is at the pump, which is down at the lake 200' away. The cut-in pressure of the pump is 30psi (pressure switch is on pump), so the pressure at the tank would be at 20psi at cut-in. My question is, since dry pressure should be 2psi less than cut in pressure, what should the pressure in my tank be when dry, 18psi or 28psi? Thanks

Re: Pressure in Holding Tank

18psi.
Is the pump lower than the tank? A 10 psi difference could be from a 20 foot rise from the pump to the tank.
Or one of the pressure gauges could be defective.

Your right the pump is lower, probably about 50' lower than the tank. Ill lower it from 28 to 18. Its been like this for a month, would there have been any damage?
