Moen Shower Valve

I had my Moen shower valve replaced less than a year ago.
The plumber had set my temp setting a little too low.
A couple of weeks ago I adjusted the plastic settings to be a little hotter.
Now I am noticing the handle does not turn as "freely" as it should.
Especially towards the hotter side. It does not bind up yet, but want to fix it before it starts.
Did I go too tight on the center screw, or something else need adjustings
Any suggestions?
Thanks
Barry

Re: Moen Shower Valve

Sometimes taking out the cartridge and putting a little silicone plumbers grease on it then reinstall it helps. Sounds like the plumber just put it in without any lube. Nothing wrong with that, it's just that I like adding the grease moen sends you with a new cartridge.

You can call or go online and ask moen directly what to do. It's not leaking so they probably won't send you a new cartridge, but may recommend a silicon grease to use to help with the stiffness. Or they may send you a whole new cartridge with the grease for free. Very reputable company. They will need model number of faucet. Just a suggestion.

Re: Moen Shower Valve

Just happen to have the number litterally in front of me...

1-800-289-6636

Moen is GREAT..... I have two old Moentrol shower valves that are rough operating/slight leak (really because we have very hard water).

Technically the valves are guaranteed for life only for the original owner... but MOEN is great.... they immediately sent out two new ones.

I think Moen will guarantee their stuff, as long as it is not some plumber or reseller or abused.

Plus their valves are GOOD.

Do have your valve model available or within sight... Moen just wants to make sure they get you the right part.

But... You probably don't have a problem apart from some plumbers grease... but they will help you right away.

Good luck

I think you should call professionals, because a plumber is a tradesperson who specializes in installing and maintaining systems used for potable water, sewage and drainage in plumbing systems.

Take the handle off and adjust the stop again. You probably just didn't get it positioned quite properly. You can't screw the center screw to tightly.
