Main Drain Stack Question

Good Morning! Please see the attached photo. My main drain stack has knocked due to thermal expansion for quite some time. Upon opening the wall I discovered that there were no bracing used, allowing the pipe to move about 1/4". I fixed this problem for the most part, however it still appears to be rubbing the 2x6 it runs through slightly. Unfortunately, there will be no wood left if I cut out the ~1" piece of the 2x6 remaining behind the pipe. The portion of the 2x6 in front of the pipe has already been mended.

I fully realize this is a mess. I didn't cut the 2x6 on its side, someone had did that long before me. My question is can I cut the wood around the main 3" pipe without causing myself a structural issue, or is that even possible to determine from the photo?

Thanks!

Re: Main Drain Stack Question

It's ticking because the wood is tight around it.

Re: Main Drain Stack Question

Cut it that 1 inch of wood that is left is not supporting anything.
