How to identify this Delta shower valve

I'm trying to figure out how the cap pops off this valve so I can remove it. I tried prying but don't want to damage it. Anyone recognize it?

That chrome cap should just pop off where it meets the gold rings.
Delta will likely send you any needed repair parts for free if you contact them with those pictures.

Consider trying one of their customer service contact methods. They may allow you to send your picture.

Re: How to identify this Delta shower valve

The units inside the wall are pretty much the same; only the trim varies so a) either the cap pops off or b) there is an exposed set screw somewhere on the handle.

For this one , I am going with b. I've found a utility knife with a dull blade to be a great tool for getting the cap started. Run it around the seam and then pry gently.

Any idea if the cap is on the outside or the inside of the gold band?

Read Joe's post above. I've not done one but that is the logical place.
