how do you remove this radiator handle? pic inside

I can't seem to replace this radiator handle, the handles can endlessly turn left or right. I used a flat head on the top screw and seems like that is the only way to open or close the radiator valve but the screw doesn't come out, it just stops. any advice is appreciated.

Does the screw rise when you turn it counter clock wise? If not, then the screw is not turning in the stem, but rather turning the stem. You'll need to turn the screw harder.

The valve handle is stripped out, that is why it doesn't open or close the valve.

Screw is just rusted into place. The problem will be getting enough torque to break it free without killing the head.

Try some rust penetrate first and leave it over night.

Cheers!

I would try an impact screwdriver.
You may end up drilling the screw out and retreading.

Are you familiar with impact screwdrivers?

You can also try a screwdriver bit in a socket on a speed handle. That approach allows you to put a lot of force down on the screw and you have lots of leverage to turn the screw.
Works much better than you would think.
Use proper size screwdriver bit, that is the largest that will fit in the slot of the screw.

Probably should try this approach first.
