How best to find/buy kohler toilet parts?

I have a kohler cimarron toilet. The seal around the rim of the flush valve (where it meets the gasket) is slightly nicked, which is the probable cause of the slow leak. By the way I got the toilet at a big box store, where it might have been returned.
Anyways I went through the kohler website, and found it slow going trying to track down the parts. I may want to buy just the gasket and part of the flush valve. How do you guys get those parts? Local plumbing supply house doesn't stock them.

Thanks

Parts can be difficult as you've found, especially when the toilet pre dates mod. numbers and names as mine are.

I've repaired 2 that weren't kohler. First one with difficult research as you have found and finally located a complete flush valve that solved the problem but was iffie to the end.

The second was repaired with a Korky repair kit. Simple, worked well and I still had some hair on my head when finished. So hopefully the Korky folks will have one that will solve your dilemma.

Never once just replaced the parts.
A whole new Fluid Master flush valve with all new parts is only about $10.00.

I'd take the toilet model number to the plumbing supply and they'll order you the parts. You could also call Kohler customer service and they'll get you the part number. Be sure to be in front of your toilet when you call them to give them model numbers. It's 1800 4 kohler or 1888 4 kohler, i forget which.
