Hopefully this one is obvious (dishwasher)

Over the past 2 days, my dishwasher has been really, really loud. We run that thing several times a day for the past few years. It has to be on its last legs. So, last night, I notice a little puddle in my basement, directly under where my dishwasher is. The water is coming through the basement ceiling (wood), and not directly out of a pipe. Gotta be the dying dishwasher, right? I ran the sink and garbage disposal this morning for about 30-60 seconds each. No new drips in the basement. However, when I took a shower this morning in my 2nd floor shower, which is above my kitchen sink/dishwasher, I noticed some new dripping in the basement.

Am I reading too much into this, or is it only the dishwasher that's leaking / dying? Could the water from the 2nd floor shower just be forcing any trapped water under the dishwasher out? Just trying to look at every angle. Thanks for taking time to read this.

I imagine that the shower & the dishwasher drains eventually meet somewhere. That's where I would look first. That would be the only connection that I see between the shower & the dishwasher.

well it sound like your DW isn't getting ant newer...
take kick panel off lower front of DW & inspect for water/wetness
remember power is energized before sticking hands inside
perform the shortest rinse cycle available
while continuing inspection for water w/flashlight

shutting down DW until replacement
while continuing to use shower should
determine if there is more going on

Peace

as noted above....remove the kick plate and have a look.

Personally, I don't think it's the DW......you would most likely see water coming out from under the kick plate.

Don't ignore the issue....a 'little' drip through the wood means there is a lot more water on the other side.

It was a cracked sump pump unit in the dishwasher. Just a coincidence with the shower, I suppose. Thank you everyone for your input.
