hole saws

Does a 4-3/8" hole saw produce a 4-3/8" hole, or is that size the "inner diameter" of the saw, so that the hole would be 4-3/8" plus the saw's kerf?

P.S. I'm shopping online, so I can't simply measure one hanging on the sales rack.

My experience with hole saws is - yes, the hole will be 4-3/8".

The coupon that stays in the saw will be inside diameter and the difference between inside diameter and outside diameter will be cuttings.

Please note that manufacturers of hole saws state that the sizes are "nominal". From experience: Hole saws tend to leave the hole just a bit larger than the stated size of the saw. I have never, ever seen a hole saw and arbor assembly that does not have some wobble to it also.
