Hole opposite tub wall

Hope this is last question on this house, about something I don't understand.

In a closet, opposite the tub/shower fixtures there was a grill with small hole when I moved in and I never investigated it. There was a note taped to the wall which I put back after painting.

Why is the hole in the wall? What does this note mean?

I just put layers of duct tape over it an put the grill back on.

ThanksHole opposite tub wall-image.jpg

Hole opposite tub wall-image.jpg. I was too overwhelmed when I moved in then had too much stuff in the closet to get photos before. Now that xmas bins are out I figured I better find out about this.

The hole was cut to repair or replace the shower/tub control valve. I can't read all of the note but it like like measurements the plumber mads to fit a new valve.
