Help with offset closet flange

Well been awhile since my last post and all went perfect thanks to DIY Chatroom . I have an issue with my toilet flange would like to move it over an other three inches at least maybe abit more but it will hit my floor joist . I have full access top and bottom and i was thinking of using Soux Chief 889-AOM full flush offset flange full flow . Should i notch joist just what i need to fit the Soux 889 and then reinforce opposite side . I have a picture from the top down showing what i would like to do . Any suggestions or other options iam all ears . Thanks

Re: Help with offset closet flange

If the joist is what is visible through the hole in the plywood, then change your plans about the location of the toilet. Notching that joist sufficiently to fit the flange will likely weaken it too much.

Cut out the joist and install a double header on both sides of the cut off.

When looking thru the hole that is my suspended ceiling tile . The green tape is my floor joist running from top to bottom in picture hard to see the writing .

I agree just header the joist off on both sides. PS size of joist is needed to tell you if you can cut on it.

Re: Help with offset closet flange

Thanks for the replies , i decided to offset the flange so it is on the edge of the joist a little out of center but not a show stopper .
