It makes me wonder if the back fill procedure states anything about compaction. If it doesn't we can guarantee the contractor will do it the fastest way and just dump dirt back to fill the ditch without compacting in lifts and that wouldn't be much better than no back fill.

It was his choice of pipe so make him do it right.

Will wait for additional input but the only way I know to truly make it right is to dig it up (he covered a lot of it), cut off the gasket ends and glue in couplings.

Otherwise... what? cover it up, get more dirt and a whacker-packer? not an option.

I'm thinking, what should have been a fairly simple job has turned into a mess.
