Frozen pipe

so I had a frozen shower today- the lines are cvpvc, I was able to put a space heater in the room and thawed them out with no damage-- LUCKY I know. 10*and windy

The supply lines come out of the house to the addition and t off for the sinks and toilet and continue to the shower- only the shower froze so I think it is right at the shower bay where the issue is.

Interior wall 2' off the exterior wall, slab on grade. I can't remember if I insulated the wall bay with the pipes and it is a slab on grade with a hole into the dirt for the tub trap....

I am thinking about cutting a hole in the wall and insulating the lines right there and stuffing the wall with insulation.....

Thoughts?

Insulating the pipes will do no good. Cut a register cover in to allow heat into the area.
That may work.

You can insulate pipe but if you think about it. Lets say I insulate two pipes stick them in a freezer will they freeze?

Yes they will you need a heat source to keep temps above freezing.

That's not a very good description of the geometry of your situation, but anyways, you need insulation between the pipe and the outdoors, and no insulation between the pipe and the indoors.

You don't want to insulate the lines. You want to leave them exposed to the inside(warm side) of the wall. Only insulate on the outside(cold side) of the wall. If you have to, build a box around them open towards the inside wall and insulate around that.

if you stop the leakage of cold air on the pipes ...by stuffing the bay and insulating the line ..it should be fine...don't let this become a major project as some my think...
