forgot to install plastic washer for my toilet you think it matters?

Hey guys, first time installing a toilet and just realized after installation i forgot to install 2 plastic washers for the toilet located sitting on top of the toilet base. It a American Standard mainstream toilet, apparently the instruction was to put a plastic washer first which touches the toilet than a metal washer on top of the plastic than the nut to tighten the toilet down shown in diagram number 4. you think I should be worried? can anything go wrong if i unscrew the nuts and remove the metal washers and put in the plastic first and reinstall?

Those plastic washers are there to prevent the metal washers from "STRESS CRACKING" the porcelain.

No it will not cause any harm to gently remove the metal, and install the plastic, then the metal, just remember to tighten it all evenly, do not torque it super tight.

The top ones also hold the caps in place.

If you're talking about the retainer washers below, no you don't need those. They are just a convenience to hold the bolts in place.

Replace one side at a time and try not to rock the toilet. Do not overtighten. Make sure your toilet is level and that you use grout to support it. Leave a 1" gap at the back so if the toilet leaks, you will see it as soon as it happens.
