Double vanity bathroom sink 1 drain

So I知 curious. For kitchens: a double sink has 1 drain but a ptrap and drain lime that serves both sinks. Something similar to this...

I知 wondering. Why can稚 you do that with a bathroom sink?

Trying to upgrade my single sink vanity to a double sink vanity.

Re: Double vanity bathroom sink 1 drain

I think some places allow it but most do not. I am sure a pro will be along.

Most plumbing codes seem to read = 1 fixture per trap.
2 lavs in the bathroom is defined as 2 fixtures. Therefore, they each need their own traps.

UPC will allow 2 lavs on one trap if they are no more than 30" apart.

The drains on most double vanitys are farther apart than a typical kitchen sink and you often 1-1/4" drains on a bathroom sink. Probably wouldn't hold up well even if it was code.
