Does a wye need to be level or sloped?

I'm installing a separate tub and shower drain and was wondering if the wye needs to be level or sloped 1/4" per foot downwards?

Here are pics of each. Still finishing the shower vent line.

You should put a small slope on the wye. What is up with all those proflex couplings?
You can use the regular coupling for dry fitting, if that is the reason.

Thanks.

What's a proflex coupling? These are no hub cast iron couplings.
