Decent bathtub faucet

I have delta bronze tub faucet set and the faucet insides are plastic. The diverter half ass works. Does anyone make a good quality spout\diverter anymore?

They are guaranteed for life. Call Delta, get some replacement parts , and you will be good to go.

Re: Decent bathtub faucet

How do you replace a diverter? Or just the whole spout?

A couple or more years ago, when I emailed Delta for replacement seats, springs and cartridges, I just mentioned the model name of the faucet. They didnít ask for proof of purchase.

Mine is about 6 years old. What should the life of these be? I have no idea the model.

More than 6 years, IMO. If it's leaking excessively out the spout outlet when you are trying to divert the water to showerhead, the seal within the tub spout is most likely worn. Unfortunately, this isn't a replaceable seal and you will need a new tub spout. This seal is a rubber seal that wears naturally. Dynamic rubber seals wear with use (friction). IIRC Delta aand most USA-made plumbing products are tested and certified to ASME A112.18.1. You can dig through it for testing requirements or if you're looking to take an afternoon nap.

Contact Delta and they will help you locate the model number of tub spout and should get you one shipped out under their warranty.I'd suggest you try digging through Delta website to locate the model number as this will quicken your time with customer service.

While plastics tub spouts may feel cheap, they are not prone to electrochemical attacks (i.e. rust, dezincification, corrosion) which a lot of metal plumbing components fail from. Most sealing mechanisms within tub spouts that I'm aware of rely on dynamic rubber seals which are prone to wear (and furthermore leaks out the tub spout outlet) by design regardless if the tub spout is metal or plastic.

Cheers,
AK
