Culligan Medalist series water softener drain leak

I have a slight drip-drip-drip coming out the top drain hose through the pvc pipe when the unit is in non-gen (normal) mode. Everything else works fine. Does the whole control valve need rebuilding, or is it just a matter of replacing the drain elbow backwash restrictor (part #8)? Thanks!

Can you indicated on the picture where the leak is?

Most of them have rubber washers that are serviceable.

The leak is internal. Water goes out through the elbow, through PVC, and drains into the same downspout pipe the washer next to it uses. I can hear the water drip inside the downspout. Pretty sure water is only supposed to flow out that fitting during the re-gen process.

Then that is a valve body issue. They are rebuildable as well if memory serves me.

Thanks!

I'm just trying to figure whether or not to try it myself. Not sure what part might be failing, which is why I posted here. Lot of parts in that body. Culligan is $130 just for a service call. Parts on top of that.

If you are very handy and can look at that one drawing and figure out how to take it apart and put it back then get the seal pack assembly and replace the main seal pack as there is at least one seal that is bad if not two.
Most Good service techs could have it done with in an hour, I know that I could.
You might take 2 hours and there is nothing wrong with that.

Good idea - I'll see if I can get a seal kit and try it. Nothing to lose!
Thanks!
